Job Description:

SUMMARY

Working under direction of the Theatre Assistant Manager – Production Lead, incumbent assists groups and/or performers with sound needs for their event. The incumbent is expected to exercise good judgment, independence, initiative, and professional expertise in conducting day-to-day operations. All work duties and activities must be performed in accordance with the City safety rules and operating regulations, policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the ability to interact with the public, City incumbents, and outside agencies with patience, tact, respect, and professionalism and the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Efficiently sets-up, executes, and takes down all sound equipment for theater events;
  • Assists Theatre Attendant – Production Lead in advancing sound needs of productions;
  • Must be expert level in setting up and mixing with analogue and digital consoles and related outboard gear;
  • Does minor equipment repairs;
  • Provides excellent customer service.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

  • Recommends and evaluates needed equipment;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The incumbent is responsible to manage their performance in accordance with this job description and the performance expectations provided to them by management. Management will work with the incumbent, as needed, to ensure performance expectations are clearly communicated and performance goals are achieved.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school education, plus 2 years of advanced education in concert sound or related area;
  • Two years' experience with theater sound;
  • OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
  • Ability to understand moderately complex, relatively standardized tasks, processes, or operations;
  • Ability to interpret work instructions and other technical guides;
  • Practical knowledge concert equipment;
  • Skills and experience necessary to set up and run analogue consoles as well as the most current digital consoles.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Incumbent's contacts are with persons employed by other agencies, or with public. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Work consists of moderately complex, relatively standardized tasks, processes or operations. Work is performed under moderate supervision. Instructions are relatively complete. Incumbent recommends or requests deviations from general instructions when necessary.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Indiana Driver’s license, if City vehicle is used.
