Job Description:

SUMMARY

Working under the direction of the Lifetime Sports Academy Director, incumbent creates and maintains a fun, safe, and learning environment for the participants of the Lifetime Sports Academy. The incumbent will offer a variety of programs, activities, and learning experiences to academy participants. The incumbent is expected to exercise good judgment, independence, initiative, and professional expertise in conducting day-to-day operations. All work duties and activities must be performed in accordance with the City safety rules and operating regulations, policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the ability to interact with the public, City incumbents, and outside agencies with patience, tact, respect, and professionalism and the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Leads individual, small and large group youth activities, and sports programs;
  • Instructs youth in formal group lessons in golf;
  • Provides role models for children;
  • Registers children for the program;
  • Maintains program records and reports as required;
  • Monitors inventory control of supplies and equipment;
  • Opens and closes the facilities;
  • Operates the range picker as directed;
  • Handles discipline as needed.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

Performs other duties as assigned.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The incumbent is responsible to manage their performance in accordance with this job description and the performance expectations provided to them by management. If at any time the incumbent is unsure of their role or specific responsibilities, it is the incumbent’s responsibility to refer to their job description and ask for clarification from their supervisor. Management will work with the incumbent, as needed, to ensure performance expectations are clearly communicated and performance goals are achieved.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of experience training and/or teaching golf in a structured program.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using money, weights and measures, volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A valid Indiana Driver's License will be required if City vehicle is used.
