Job Description:

SUMMARY

Working under the direction of the Aquatic Center Manager, incumbent is responsible for understanding/operating cash register. Handles money, answers telephone, collects/distributes cloths baskets, light cleaning, assisting with swim lessons, monitoring of sand/turf areas and monitors top of water slide. The incumbent is expected to exercise good judgment, independence, initiative, and professional expertise in conducting day-to-day operations. All work duties and activities must be performed in accordance with the City safety rules and operating regulations, policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the ability to interact with the public, City incumbents, and outside agencies with patience, tact, respect, and professionalism and the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Operates cash register and handles monies taken in;
  • Distributes/collects clothing baskets;
  • Answers telephone, gives information;
  • Performs light cleaning chores;
  • Assists with swim lessons;
  • Monitors turf areas and top of water slide;
  • Registers customers for pool programs.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

Performs other duties as assigned by Aquatic Center Manager;

The incumbent is responsible to manage their performance in accordance with this job description and the performance expectations provided to them by management. QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma is not required, but must be able to write and perform simple mathematics;

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

  • Ability to operate cash register;
  • Valid Indiana Driver's License if City vehicle is used.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using money, weights and measures, volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Valid Indiana Driver's License if City vehicle is used
